Cross this one off the list: Master Bathroom

By Jenni | February 27, 2010

BEFORE:

Black, black, and black.   Wallpaper border from previous homeowner.   When we moved in, we simply bought a shower curtain and rugs to match… mostly because the thought of scraping all that border off gave me the heebie-jeebies.

I liked it when we first  moved in, but now after almost two years… I’ve gotten bored with it.  And my husband was thinking it was a bit too “girly” for a master bathroom.  He wanted something more neutral, and I wanted something with some softer colors.

So I finally bit the bullet and started scraping.   And scraping, and scraping, and scraping.

I think it’s possible the previous homeowners used Super Glue to attach this wallpaper border to the wall.  Just this little bit of border took me hours last night to get off.   I tried wallpaper remover, I used scrapers of all shapes and sizes.  I finally finished it this morning.

Time to clean up and get ready to start painting!  It took me all day today, but I think the finished product is SO WORTH IT.   All I have left to get is a couple pieces of artwork and maybe a basket or something for the floor.

AFTER:

This time, we went with a chocolate brown, with shades of blue, sage green and khaki.  The walls are called “Seascape” and are a shade of blue from the shower curtain.

Next project:   my daughter’s bathroom and my first experience with LIME GREEN PAINT.  Wish me luck!

(All accessories are from KOHL’S. Paint is from LOWE’S.)

random stream of thoughts

By Jenni | September 13, 2009

Nobody reads blogs on the weekends anyways, so here is my random stream of thoughts…maybe you will see some of them turned into regular posts, maybe not.

I am totally digging SIRIUS satellite radio. Channel 103, 105, and 66 are my current favorites.

I believe health insurance is a priviledge, not a right.

I think Brett Favre has outstayed his welcome in the NFL. He’s like a crazy relative that won’t go home.

I love love love the schools my kids go to… I think we have the best school district EVAH.

Money really can buy some happiness.

Dieting must commence soon, or I will be forced to buy a new wardrobe.

Sometimes I look at my kids and wonder how I got lucky enough to be their Mom.

I’m a little disappointed that my old co-workers haven’t called with any questions yet. I was kinda hoping they’d need me for SOMETHING.

I am excited that I have made some new friends at work.

I think my laundry piles in the basement reproduce while I sleep at night, because I swear more appears when I go down there in the mornings.

Someone at Kohl’s thought my mom and I were SISTERS. What an amazing compliment for my MOTHER. She’s 58 and I am 36… sisters?

I need a maid.

My husband turns 40 tomorrow. Why does that make me feel old?

These “food days” at work are killing me.
