Big & Little, Short & Small

By Jenni | November 9, 2009

Our dog, Izzie, has this fondness of following me wherever I go. If I leave a room, she is right behind me. It amazes what incredible loyalty a dog can have to someone. My husband jokes about it, because this dog seriously has this thing for me. At night, she sleeps in our bed and has to be underneath the covers, right up against my legs. She always has to be touching me when she sleeps. If I move, she moves.

When I am in my office at home, she stays by my side. This is why I decided to move her very comfy dog bed to a spot right underneath my desk. That way she can still be by me, but not have to lay on the floor.

Unfortunately, our new puppy Harley? Not only does she also like to follow me around the house, but she also has quite the fondness for the big comfy dog bed. She crawls into it, yawns, stretches, and settles down for a nap while I go about my Facebooking Twittering blogging work in my office.

Izzie does not like this. Not one bit. She will go up to Harley, stick her nose under her belly, and try to boot her off the bed. It is after all, HER BED.

The other night when we were at Wal-Mart picking up a few things, I thought it would be a good idea to pick up another doggy bed for Harley, a smaller one for my 2 pound cutie pie. I picked out a cute reversible one, one that was suitable to warm or cool temps and of course, much smaller to keep her cozy.

So what’s the problem?

Well, I’ll let you decide for yourself:

018
Harley deciding she still likes the “big girl bed”
019
Izzie deciding she’d rather suck it up and take the “baby bed” rather than lay on the floor.

She’s certainly made herself at home!

Welcome to our home, HARLEY!

Harley 005I’ve discovered having a puppy is pretty similar to having a baby in the house.   No sleep, and you can’t leave them alone for a second!  The girls were totally surprised and immediately fell in love with this little 1.9 pound bundle of joy.
Yes, you read that right.   We took her to the vet and she weighed in at ONE. POINT. NINE. pounds.  Can you believe it?

Another shameless display of CUTENESS and help me name the PUPPY

By Jenni | October 21, 2009

In case you missed the puppy shot yesterday, here she is again:

Harley 004I am going to pick up this little ball of cuteness on Friday morning.  I have paid the deposit, I have picked her out.   And this WILL be a surprise for my kids.    They will go absolutely bonkers when they get home from school on Friday and see this little darling.   Isn’t she the cutest thing EVAH?

Now I am trying to decide on a NAME for this little angel.   I want a name that means something to us, something we can explain WHY we named her the way we did.

Should I choose a name that goes along with our other dog’s name? Our other dog is IZZIE. Yes, named after Dr. Isobel Stevens from Grey’s Anatomy. When my aunt was diagnosed with cancer (again) last year, she was unable to take care of Izzie anymore, who was just a puppy at the time. We agreed to take her and make her a part of our family, because we knew we would love her unconditionally. She has been a JOY to have as a pet, and she is spoiled rotten. And I just WUV her.

Help me name this puppy!

Callie or Arizona – Keeping with the Grey’s Anatomy theme … Callie and Arizona are my two favorite characters. Besides Izzie.

Bella – Keeping with the ISOBEL name… Izzie and Bella?

Harley – I was laying on the couch yesterday thinking of puppy names, and saw my husband’s leather Harley-Davidson jacket thrown on the back of the chair, and immediately thought “HARLEY!”

Roxy - From “Army Wives”, another favorite show of mine.

Scarlet – Because our school colors are red & black.

Help me out, people. I want this puppy to have a name, so my kids don’t end up naming it Tiny, Fluffy or Princess.

Any ideas?
