Running In Circles

runnerI’ve never been a runner. I’ve tried to become one many times, committed to various races and charity runs, but never actually did them.

I WANT to be a runner.

I want to be the type of person that gets up in the morning, laces up her running shoes, and takes off down the street.

Problem is, when you’ve been doing ZERO exercise for years, you don’t really know where to start.

It’s a dilemma, I tell ya. My goal in 2013 is to run in a 5k. I really want to do this, but how do you get from ZERO running to being able to run a 5K?

I know, I know… I’ve seen all the different apps I can get on my phone– Couch to 5K, Ease into 5K, etc. I have them, but finding the physical location to get started this time of year? I’m struggling.

Any suggestions?

  1. Well, I have a treadmill, so that is where I do most of mine…when I do it. I don’t like running outside where people can see me. Also in a small town, if I go out to run, it is likely that someone will stop me and want to chat. I hate that, because if I am out running, I haven’t showered..no makeup…and I am out to run and I have a limited amount of time, so if I get interrupted, then I have less time to run… So, I prefer to run in my own home, plus that is how I get caught up on my shows. I read the book RUN YOUR BUTT OFF. It was an excellent book explaining the semantics of running, how to start and the nutritional side of it as well. I got it on my Kindle or you can order the book too. Just a thought! Keep at it! Smile

    • I wish I still had my treadmill! We sold our readmill and elliptical last year because neither were getting used. Frown I couldn’t justify them taking up space in my basement. I’m just using the track at work now when the weather is too cold for being outside.
