I received the “Honest Scrap” award from Smart Cents Mom recently, and was so excited because she loveth the crap scrap that is thee blog. What’s really cool is that I get to meet her at the upcoming I_Blog Conference in TEN DAYS!!!! Yay!
And she likes me. She really likes me! (gushing, my best Sally Field impersonation)
Now I must pass this along to other some other people worthy of the award. Here are the rules:
* Present this award to 7 others whose blogs I find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged me.
* Tell those 7 people that they have been awarded HONEST SCRAP and inform them of these guidelines in receiving the award.
* Share “10 Honest Things” about myself.
Let’s see.. blogs that “I find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged me.”
Wow. Only 7?
1. Life In The Mind of a Modest Genius – Stan is a blogger I have been reading for a long time. He started out a perfect stranger when I found his blog through an old friend’s husband’s blogroll. (Make sense?) Through reading his blog, I find out that not only does he live in the area, but he went to high school with my husband. I enjoy reading Stan’s blog because he speaks his mind, on any topic he sees fit. He posts every day, and sometimes more! I have LOTS of blogs in my feed reader, but Stan’s is one of the few that I click on first. “Brilliant in content” is an understatement. You should check him out.
2. Iowa Geek – Jody is another one of my favorite reads. She will never admit it, but she is a supermom. And I don’t hand that title out freely. She does it all, writing at Iowa Geek, Have Kid Will Travel and did I mention she is also organizing the I_Blog conference coming up? Whew! It wears me out just thinking about it.
3. Doodles, Dogs, and Bees – Tina is a former Iowan who made the move to Nebraska a while back. Her and I used to belong to the same mom’s group, and I don’t even remember how I ended up finding her blog. Needless to say, it has become a daily read for me. It’s a simple blog– she just writes about her daily life. But I truly enjoy reading about her latest craft projects, and what her family is up to.
4. From a Mom’s View – Belinda is another former Iowan, and another person that used to belong to the same Mom’s group as me, several years ago. She now writes from Texas, and I enjoy reading what her family life is like. Her kids are cute as heck! I’m looking forward to keeping up with her blog topic for November – each day will be about something she is thankful for.
5. Eric Sheldon – Eric is Belinda’s husband and also a good friend of Stan, both of whom I already mentioned above. The only thing that would make Eric’s blog better is if he’d write more often!!
6. Will Write for Chocolate – She’s just funny. Go read her blog. NOW.
7. So Many Kids, So Little Time – I “met” Kimi when her and I both signed up for the September 30-day Shred. I fizzled out beacause of the stress fracture in my foot, but hey! I found some great blogs in the process!
10 Honest Things About Myself
1. I have a shopping addiction. I have more clothes and shoes than I could ever wear, yet I always feel the need to buy more.
2. My husband keeps pushing me to go back to school (again!) and I don’t want to go back. I went last year, and now the novelty has worn off. I feel like I won’t have the time for it now.
3. I read through my kids’ text messages on their phones, just to check up on them.
4. Sometimes I do the same thing with my husband’s phone.
5. I am not a very nice driver. If you don’t use your turn signal, I won’t let you in. Period.
6. I hate how much weight I have gained over the years.
7. I am excited about the Iowa Hawkeyes being 9-0 this season so far, and I have been a fan my entire life. Truth is though, I have not watched one single game this season. Bits and pieces of them, and I’ve seen highlights on the news, but I have yet to watch even one game.
8. I feel like something in my life is missing. I can’t quit put my finger on it, but something is just “off”.
9. I have not been to the doctor for a physical or check-up since I was pregnant with my daughter, nine years ago. I know I need to go, I just don’t ever DO IT.
10. Other than my family, one of the things I am most thankful for is that my mortgage is paid off.
