One thousand days ago, I made a big decision. I gave up caffeine for good.
It was April 24, 2010 and I was once again visiting my doctor about my migraines. She told me point-blank, the migraines would never improve unless I gave up caffeine for good. I couldn’t believe I was going to do it, and I knew I was going to have to suffer through some pretty powerful withdrawal headaches. But I gave it up, cold turkey.
It’s amazing what a difference it has made in my life, and how much better I feel. My energy level has changed, and I no longer need the caffeine to get through the day. No more crash and burns, no more headache from not drinking my can of Pepsi in the morning.
I still get migraines, of course. But they are far less frequent, and not nearly as severe.
I think back to the cases and cases of Pepsi, Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew I would go through in a week’s time. A typical day for me would include at least 4-5 cans of pop. I shudder to think of the damage I was doing to my body (and my teeth!), and how dehydrated my body probably was all those years.
My drink of choice is now water, and very occasionally I will have a can or bottle of diet (caffeine-free) pop. But that’s a rarity. I highly recommend everyone taking the plunge and getting rid of caffeinated pop for good.
I DID IT, and you can too.

Holy smokes! GOOD for you! Visiting from our “100 lb loser” FB group. Have a lovely, encouraging day.
