In honor of Thanksgiving, and being that today is November 26th, I give you:
26 Things I am Sincerely Thankful For:
(Husband, kids, and other family members are a given)
1. I am thankful I do not have to cook the Thanksgiving meal. I am not a good cook, and I get way too stressed out and crabby.
2. I am thankful my kids are old enough to give very specific ideas as to what they want for Christmas. Much easier to shop.
3. I am thankful for online shopping. I do not have to set foot into a big-box store anytime between now and Christmas. It’s worth the minimal shipping costs I may have to pay.
4. I am thankful to have vehicles with all the brake lights and turn signals in perfect working condition (and thankful that I actually use them). Because I’d hate to have to kick my own ass for being a moron douchebag. (ah, that felt good to get off my chest.)
5. I am thankful for being able to spend a Thanksgiving afternoon looking through the Black Friday ads with my mom and my sister, planning our , um… strategy.
6. I am thankful that expensive stores like Cabela’s run really awesome sales. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
7. I am thankful that Amazon.com offers FREE SHIPPING if you spend over $25. Best of all? They do this year-round. I heart them.
8. I am thankful that since Thanksgiving will not be at MY house, I did not spend my whole week cleaning.
9. I am thankful to finally have a job which gives me both today AND tomorrow off, without having to use a vacation day. The company I used to work required the office to stay open on Black Friday, which left us often arguing over who gets to take the ady off.
10. I am thankful I can pay for Christmas with CASH, and NO CREDIT CARDS.
11. I am thankful my husband let me put our Christmas trees and decorations up early (they were put up on Sunday!).
12. I am thankful for my adorable 10-year-old Pen Pal. Through our company sponsored program with an area elementary school, I get to write letters back and forth with the cutest 4th grader! I love reading what he has to say.
13. I am thankful that my Iowa Hawkeyes finished the season a lot better than anyone ever thought they would.
14. I am thankful that Iowa State has a new football coach this year, and that it is someone that truly cares about the success of the program.
15. I am thankful that none of my children have asked for Barbies, Bratz dolls, or any other toy that will require me getting up at 4am to find a good deal on tomorrow.
16. I am thankful to not be sending out Christmas cards this year, and instead keeping my new tradition of sending New Years cards instead.
17. I am thankful for Pandora, so that I can listen to music I like all day when I’m at work.
18. I am thankful I get home from work in time each day to watch “Ellen.”
19. I am thankful to not be the least bit disappointed to hear that Oprah will cease production of her show next year. I’m really not a fan of hers like I used to be.
20. I am thankful to have good health insurance through my employer. We are losing our old insurance through my husband’s former employer at the end of the year, and so we are very lucky to have find another good option through my job.
21. I am thankful I FINALLY figured out how to use Twitter.
22. I am thankful someone introduced me to the social media goodness that is TweetDeck. Squee!
23. I am thankful that Facebook isn’t all that appealing to me anymore.
24. I am thankful to be working diligently on my “101 in 1,001” list. I have so many things in the works right now, and it feels to know I am accomplishing the goals I set for myself.
25. I am thankful that my whole family has gotten through the H1N1 flu already, and we should (knock on wood) be immune to getting it again this year.
26. I am very thankful for all of the wonderful people I have met and become friends with in the blogging community. It is amazing the caliber of people out there, and the strength we have as bloggers.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
Disclosure: I did not receive anything in return for the glowing recommendations I mentioned in this post. However, if Cabelas, Amazon, or anyone else wants to give me something for the shout-out, I’d probably commence leg-humping.
