I won’t bore you all with the details of Class #9. Class #9 was basically about communication — verbal, non-verbal, and para-verbal. Learning how to paraphrase and reflect and parrot what people say, whether it be other adults or children.
We were scheduled to interview some foster children from AMP, which is a foster youth organization called “Achieve Maximum Potential.” They were unable to attend due to some conflicts, but we still got to hear a little about their program and what they do. Check out their website– it’s a very worthwhile organization to get involved in.
We did have a speaker come from IFAPA, Iowa Foster & Adoptive Parents Association. IFAPA “empowers, supports and advocates for foster, adoptive and kinship families in Iowa. IFAPA provides training, peer support and resources to promote safety, permanency and well-being for Iowa’s children.” What’s really awesome is that the training they provide is free, and offered at locations all over the state.
So… one class left (Graduation Night!) and we’re having a potluck.
What’s new with you?
