We finished Class #6. Only four left to go. I’ll make this post short and sweet today. Class #6 was about Connections and Culture– basically making sure we know how to make connections in our community to the child’s culture if we foster or adopt a child that is of a different race/ethnicity/culture than ours.
Easy peasy, right?
We still have the same 20 in our class, which is awesome. I’m glad everyone is still sticking around.
And… drumroll please…. it was our turn to bring the dinner last night. For 20 students and 2 instructors. We ended up ordering pizzas from Papa Johns, bringing salad, cookies, pop and bottled water. It was yummy and everyone loved it.
We got to learn a little more about the homestudy process and what to expect when our social worker comes (hopefully) on Monday. They are not looking for immaculate houses, they are looking for SAFE houses. They told us they will spend just a few minutes with each of the kids, and then spend a little bit of time talking to each of us parents.
We will have two homestudy visits in the next four weeks before our ten classes are completed. The third homestudy visit cannot be completed until after the 10th class is done.
That doesn’t sound too scary, I suppose.
I wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving!
